Winter
Walk 2008
Our
ninth annual Winter Walk was held on Sunday, February 10th
at 2:30 pm at St. Margaret's House.
Amount
raised as of 3/12/08: $51,348
The
weather for Winter Walk 2008 was terrible!
The thermometer read 4 degrees above zero but the wind chill made it feel like
10-20 degrees below zero. The group of heros
that came out to walk was small but mighty.
Twenty five walk volunteers and over 125 people joined with Mayor Steve Luecke, Congressman Joe Donnelly
and State Senator John Broden to brave the elements.
On behalf of the Board of Directors,
staff, volunteers and the Walk committee, we want to thank our corporate and
media sponsors, all who walked and those who supported
the walkers for Winter Walk 2008. In 2007, we served over
20,000 meals. An average of 67 women and
children visited each day. Some came for
a meal. Others came to attend one of our programs to help them find employment,
improve their health, to develop their parenting skills, participate in an art
project or to make concrete plans to move themselves and their families out of
poverty. All came to be part of a caring
community, to be treated with dignity and respect. Winter
Walk 2008 will help us to continue these vital services.
Because of the efforts of all of those involved with Winter
Walk 2008, we will continue to make real difference in the lives of the women and
children of St. Margaret's House.

Assistance Program 2007-2008
UPDATE
AS OF 12/31/07 We have sold all of our credits for

House.
For
a complete explanation of NAP credits see below:
St. Margaret's House has been awarded $23,700 in

increase their contributions to non-profit agencies by giving them a credit on their
Indiana State taxes. Contributors who donate $100 or more may
receive a tax credit worth 50% of your donation to St. Margaret's House. The
full amount of the gift is deductible on your federal taxes for those who

Tax credits must be claimed for the tax year in
which the contribution is made. If you
wish to take advantage of this credit, fill
out the two above forms and return them to St. Margaret's House with your
donation. This year, the state is asking
donors to fill out two forms. The short form that will not contain you
social security number will be sent to the office of Indiana Housing, the
office that sponsors the NAP credits.
The NC-10 will be sent directly to the office of tax revenue. We will submit all requests for tax credits
for this quarter September 17, 2007.
Four to six weeks later, you will receive a form from the state that
will confirm the amount of your credit.
You will submit this form with your 2007 Indiana State
taxes.
The next quarterly report to the state will be made December
27. We urge you to take advantage of
this opportunity to lower your 2007 taxes.
Though we have until June 1, 2008 to distribute all the tax credits, we
expect they will be claimed by the end of the year. If you have any questions, please call Kathy
Schneider at (574) 234-7795.
Thank you for all the ways you improve the lives of
women and children by contributing to St. Margaret's House.
